Today: See DORADE at the Newport Wooden Boat Festival

ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS racing yachts, DORADE, will be on display today for the first and possibly only time at the 4th Annual Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival. Free and open to the public, this hugely popular event is hosted by Balboa Yacht Club today only. DORADE was designed in 1929 by the legendary naval architect Olin Stephens and his brother Rod, and is arguably the most successful ocean racing yacht of all time. And she is still winning today. Beautifully restored and maintained by our friends Matt Brooks and Pam Rorke Levy, members of St Francis and New York Yacht Clubs, she took first place in her class in last week's SoCal 300. In July they will sail the Transpac Race, then head to Australia for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week in August. At the end of the year DORADE will race sail in the famous Sydney-Hobart race, then spend 2018 in Asian waters. More about the Wooden Boat Festival here, and check out the YouTube video shot at St. Francis YC i 2013 featuring Matt and Pam for more about DORADE.
