TFE LIVE: Today, Richard Pound (CAN), longest serving member of the IOC, with his views on the postponed 2020 Olympics and the impact on International Federations like World Sailing, and much more

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

SAN FRANCISCO (#1266) — Today (Tuesday) on TFE LIVE, Richard Pound, CC OQ QC OLY, (CAN), the Canadian swimming champion, lawyer, prominent spokesman for ethics in sport, and the longest-serving member of the International Olympic Committee, live via Skye from Montreal.

Mr. Pound was the first president of the World Anti-Doping Agency and also served as an IOC vice-president. According to Wikipedia: "He is a staunch advocate of strict drug testing for athletes. Time magazine featured him as one of the '100 Most Influential People in the World.' Mr. Pound was a chancellor of McGill University and was chairman of the board of Olympic Broadcasting Services."

With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics now postponed to 2021, and growing concern about the viability of 2021, it will be great to have latest thoughts and insight. Not about the “inside baseball” situation of World Sailing per se, but how all the IFs are affected, and what Mr Pound's expectations are going forward as the “Doyen of the IOC Members.”

Please join us as usual at 1300 Pacific / 1600 Eastern / 2000 UTC / 2200 CET / 0800+1 NZT / 0600+1 AEST* on our Sailing Illustrated FB page, or watch a replay there later.
