Photo of the Day: Moth Worlds; Paul Goodison (GBR) repeats as world champ
MALCESINE, ITA – Congratulations to Paul Goodison (GBR) , the 2017 McDougall+McConaghy Moth World Champion, repeating his 2016 win. The regatta wrapped up Sunday afternoon on Italy's gorgeous Lake Garda. Peter Burling (NZL), was a distant second – yes, the same Pete Burling who helmed ETNZ to the America's Cup win last month; obviously a superb sailor, having also won an Olympic Silver (2012) and Gold (2016) in the 49er class, as many of our Dear Readers will know.
Oracle Team USA's AC tactician Tom Slingsby (AUS) was fourth. Artemis Racing's AC helmsman Nathan Outteridge (AUS) was fifth. The only American in the 73-boat Gold Fleet was Brad Funk (Miami, Coconut Grove Sailing Club) who finished 54th. There were a total of 220 entries from 16 countries. Full results here. Details on the event website. And many more great photos from Martina Orsini, and video from Beau Outteridge on the event's Facebook page.
