ICSA: At the end of Day 1, the cock of the team racing walk is College of Charleston

WHY ARE WE NOT SURPRISED? The host/home team, the College of Charleston ("CoC") Cougars, and the winner of the last four Collegiate National Team Race Championships, is leading at the end of Day 1 of this prestigious annual regatta sponsored by LaserPerformance. CoC is probably feeling a bit cocky tonight with their record of 11-2. However, the Yale Bulldogs, who won the Sperry Women's Nationals over the previous couple of days, are in this cockfight, too, with a 10-2 record.

You can read the details in this evening's ICSA press release, but the results (below) are what you want to know - who's on top and who's not. Nice that the ICSA is listing crews, too.

Sorry we have been so busy with what some are calling a cock-up of a regatta in Bermuda – while laughing off personal attacks from the confused editor of what used to be a first-rate sailing magazine – that we haven't had time today to give as much attention as we'd like to the ICSA's LaserPerformance Team Racing Nats.

Tomorrow, if you are bored with the AC and want to tune in to the ICSA's livestream of this regatta, with excellent commentary by SAILING ILLUSTRATED's Collegiate Guru Jon Rogers and his wingman Brooks Clark, you can do so Sunday morning come 0930 EDT (0630 PDT) via the window at the bottom of this page. The livestream also plays nicely on SI's mobile rendering, unlike that of other sailing websites. In the meantime, we urge everyone to remain calm and not to go off half-cocked – after all this was just the first day of three for the Team Racing Nationals.
