SAILGP: Weather or not, there should be at least some F50 racing at Cowes this weekend

SAN FRANCISCO (#1183) – No doubt most sailors in the southern British Isles are aware of the major storm bearing down on you this weekend that is already affecting those trying to get back from the finish of the Fastnet in Plymouth to the Solent for Cowes Week, as well as the SailGP regatta originally scheduled to have practice racing Friday, three fleet races on Saturday afternoon, and two more fleet races on Sunday followed by the final match race between the top two teams.

With the Saturday forecast for 29 knots gusting into the high 30s, one hears the word was passed around to the SailGP teams today (Thursday) that they will attempt, if possible, some official fleet racing on Friday, likely stay ashore on Saturday, and try to add make-up racing on Sunday before the otherwise scheduled start time of 1500 local.

We'll have the latest on Friday's TFE LIVE, as always at 1300 Pacific / 1600 Eastern / 2000 UTC on our Sailing Illustrated Facebook page.

Meanwhile, highlights to today's practice sailing and press conference....
