SSL: Live from Nassau Yacht Club, Super Saturday; the Semis and Finals of the Star Sailors League

Saturday, December 8, 2018

NASSAU, BAH (#1150) – Live from Nassau, the 2018 Finals of the Star Sailing League – an astonishing collection of the world's top sailors competing for what has quickly become one of the most prestigious titles in the yacht racing world, to say nothing of the better part of the $200k cash prize.

Can Brazilian super-stars Robert Scheidt and Henry Boening continue their domination of this amazing fleet? Will Paul Cayard (USA) and Arthur Lopes (BRA) maintain their hot streak from yesterday? Or will one of the other ten teams that advanced from the qualies rise to the top?

Expert commentary from Peter Lester (NZL), Shirley Robertson (GBR), and Mark Covell (GBR). Excellent visuals from camera boats and many on-board cams; good shot selection and pacing by the director. Mr Covell is doing an especially good job of explaining some of the technicalities for casual or non-sailors, without talking down to the many keen racers watching. Double Olympic medalist and America' Cup star Iain Percy (GBR) has joined today's commentary team.

Mr Percy (accompanying photo)  "mysteriously" missed the first three days of qualifications, but appeared yesterday for the final day finishing a respectable 9-6-6-6. One hears Iain may have been on a reconnaissance mission and more in Malta.
