SAN FRANCISCO – Today we had as our special live guest Russell Green (NZL), Emirates Team New Zealand's long time rules advisor and the main author of the Protocol Governing America's Cup XXXVI that was released ten days ago at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. One tidbit from our wide-ranging, hour-long discussion about the venue, yachts, nationality rule and more, is the welcome news that RG expects Newport, RI will be offered a pre-regatta by the Challenger of Record, Circolo della Vela Sicilia and their representative team Luna Rossa. Under the Protocol the COR is in charge of the pre-regattas, and Russell said he understands that Luna Rossa President (and Prada CEO) Patrizio Bertelli is keen to have a pre-regatta in Newport.
