Pac52: Frank Slootman has today's hot hand in Newport Beach

Friday, June 9, 2017

AFTER WINNING RACE 1, Frank Slootman (San Francisco) and his INVISIBLE HAND team went on to win the second race and take 2nd in the third. They will have bragging rights at tonight's shoreside party at an elegant Corona del Mar shoreside home as the top boat at the end of Day 1 of 3 for the inaugural One Design Offshore Championship hosted by Newport Harbor YC. Only two races had been anticipated today, but the conditions were so nice this afternoon that the friendly but intensely competitive class agreed with NHYC to run a third race. You will find full details on the Pac52 Class Facebook Page shortly. Tight finish of today's Race 2 also won by INVISIBLE HAND (far right). BADPAK (blue boat) was second, RIO (orange) was third and FOX (far left) was fourth. FOX, however, came back to win Race 3 in the closely competitive new West Coast class.
