AC35: Artemis Racing wins 5-3 over JPN, advance to the Challenger Finals

Friday, June 9, 2017

Congrats to Nathan Outteridge and his Artemis Racing colleagues, and team owner Torbjorn Tornqvist, on their win over SoftBank Team Japan in their Challenger Semifinal by a score of 5-3. They advance to the Challenger Finals against Emirates Team New Zealand, which begin tomorrow. Again, first to win five (best of nine).

Today SWE trailed off the start line and for the first two legs, but grabbed the lead on the third (first upwind) leg when JPN made a tactical blunder, allowing Artemis to tack to leeward and then luff the Japanese team and shoot through to leeward. They never looked back.

Again today your Ed. live-tweeted the race. Check that feed for more details of today's and yesterday's racing (the Twitter feed is available here on SI; click on the Live Twitter Feed button in the menu bar above).
